Welcome to the Challenge Games web site. Challenge is an annual athletic competition for persons with physical disabilities, held at Panther Stadium in Derby, Kansas (just outside Wichita). The meet is sanctioned by the National Disabled Sports Alliance and Wheelchair Sports USA. Both adult and junior age divisions are offered in track and field events. There is also an open age division boccia competition.
The purpose of the Disability Sports web site is to provide information about disability sports for students who are studying adapted physical activity; however, the content will certainly be interesting for members of the disability sports community as well. Much of the content of these pages was authored by graduate students enrolled in KIN 866 - Research on Sports for Athletes with Disabilities, a course taught in the Department of Kinesiology at Michigan State University. Author credits are listed on the appropriate web pages. A major revision of the entire site was completed in January 2004.
The Endeavor Games is a nationally-recognized competition that allows all athletes with physical disabilities to participate in a multi-sport event similar to the Paralympics. The Games also provides training clinics for aspiring athletes. Sport competitions will be offered in: Wheelchair Basketball, Powerlifting, Track & Field, Tennis, Table Tennis, Boccia, Shooting, Archery, Swimming, All events will be held on the University of Central Oklahoma campus, Edmond North High School or Cheyenne Middle School in Edmond, OK. The Kansas City Pediatric Alliance is a community of pediatric therapy professionals, including physical and occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists, and special education teachers, who work together to improve opportunities for their clients across the Kansas City metro area. The group meets bimonthly to provide its members with a discussion forum for local topics, special presentations on the latest topics in pediactic care (including continuing education opportunities), community activities and more. Through this multi-disiplinary group, our goal is to empower our members to be able to deliver the highest quality care to Kansas City's children and their families.

Shriner Hospitals for Children is a network of 22 pediatric specialty hospitals, operated and maintained by the Shrine have treated more than 800,000 children to date at a cost of more than 7.6 billion. In 2005, more than 24,000 children were admitted to Shriner orthopedic hospitals, more than 2,600 children were admitted to Shiner burn hospitals, and there were more then 305,000 outpatient, outreach, and telemedicine visits to the 22 hospitals.

Founded in 1970, the National Sports Center for the Disabled's mission is to positively impact the lives of people with any physical or mental challenge through quality adaptive recreation programs in over 20 sports. The NSCD’s impact on lives is direct, immediate and visible. Over 20,000 lessons were provided in 2007 alone.
Founded in 1956 as the National Wheelchair Athletic Association, the name of the organization was changed in 1994 to Wheelchair Sports, USA, to better reflect the organization's mission and goals. The initial impetus to organize Wheelchair Sports, USA, grew out of the interests of athletes with disabilities - many of whom were veterans of World War II. They wanted to participate in sports other than basketball, which had seen rapid growth in the early 1950's through team s sponsored by veterans hospitals and other rehabilitation agencies.
Blaze Sports is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that advances the lives of youth and adults with physical disability through sport and healthy lifestyles. BlazeSports provides sports training, competitions, summer camps and other sports and recreational opportunities for youth and adults with spinal cord injury, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, muscular dystrophy, amputation, visual impairment or blindness as well as other physical disabilities.
